Babypulse Fetal Doppler

More Information:

How early can I hear my baby? The answer to this question is not as straight forward as some people would have you believe, however a large number of doctors and midwives who use our dopplers claim detection as early as 8 or 9 weeks. Naturally they are doing this all the time and have a few special techniques, but the dopplers they are using are virtually identical to the babypulse and by following our "tips for success" we feel confident you will be able to hear your baby's heart beat from 9-10 weeks.

Tips for success

The fetus, especially early in pregnancy, is often a lot lower than many people imagine, at ages of less than 10 weeks it is not unusual for the uterus and fetus to be obscured behind the pelvic bone.

The wall of the uterus is easy to detect by running your fingers lightly over the mothers body from the pelvic bone upwards towards the navel. The wall of the uterus will "appear" as a hard ridge.

By positioning the babypulse probe between the ridge and the pelvic bone and by pointing the probe down towards the pelvis it should be possible to hear either the fetal heart sounds or the blood flow in the placenta. Use plenty of air free (bubble free) ultrasound gel between the probe and skin.
Make sure the probe is in good contact with the skin.

It is sometimes easier to detect baby if you are lying down. Remember baby can move or change position so you might not detect baby in exactly the same place every day. Be smooth, slow and steady as you move the probe, too quick and you might miss the spot, especially in early pregnancy, or lose the sound amongst the "static" of motion.
The unit is powered by a standard 9V battery, which provides over 9 hours of use.
